Beit David. Commentary on Mishnayot and the commentaries of Rabbeinu Ovadiah M’Bartenura and the Tosfot Yom Tov, the Rambam, Rebbe Meir Zacut and others, by Rabbi David Chayim Korinaldi of Italy. Amsterdam, [1738-1739]. First edition. Two volumes. [7] 139 : [2] 130 leaves. 21.5 cm. The signatures of the owners on the title page in the second volume. “I Eliyahu Yitzchak of Modona .”יצ”ו On the page before the title page is written that the owner is Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halevi (Wolman) the son of Rabbi Yisrael Yaacov Halevi Wolman, Av Beit Din Plonsk, son-in-law of the gaon of Kotno, author of the ‘Yeshuot Malko’. There is a pamphlet of drawings, diagrams for understanding the mishnayot of the tractates Kelaim Rosh Hashana, Eiruvin and Succot. In the copy we have, the pamphlet is bound at the back of the first volume. As in other copies, the two title pages are of the second volume. The gaon Rabbi David Pardo wrote harsh words on this sefer in his sefer ‘Shoshanim L’David’, and this matter caused a furor in Italy, until he had to make a public apology, as instructed by the Rabbanim of Venice, in the second volume of his book. Old bindings. Damage to the title page in the first volume. Moth holes and age stains. Good condition.
