LeShem Zevach - novellae on six tractates: Berachot, Beitzah, Shevuot, Makkot, Zevachim and Chulin; and compilations on most of the tractates in Seder Moed; by the gaon Rabbi Ya'akov Yehudah Leib Papersha, dayan in Altona.
Approbations from the rabbinic leaders of Ashkenaz and an interesting introduction by the author at the top of the title page. Large woodcut. Owners' signatures from the time of the printing: "Tz. Hirsch ..." and more.
The gaon Rabbi Ya'akov Yehudah Leib Papersha - Rabbi  Leib Papersha [d. 1779] was a disciple of Rabbi Ya'akov HaKohen of Frankfurt am Main, author of Shev Ya'akov and dayan with Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz in Hamburg. He stood at Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz's side during the period of the controversy, and filled R' Yehonatan's place until Rabbi David Berlin was appointed Raava"d. Rabbi Leib was one of the sages at the kloiz and then a lecturer there.
[1], 109 leaves. 32 cm; fine condition. Aging stains. Isolated worming perforations. Tear in the margins of the last leaf without damage to text. New binding.
