Lifetime edition. Vsevolod Alexandrovich Rozhdestvensky (1895-1977) was a Soviet Russian poet who was one of the "younger" acmeists in the early 1920s. His poems of the early 1920s are plentifully populated by travelers, pirates, corsairs, sans-culottes, etc. At the same time, Rozhdestvensky, according to critics, was also good at landscape lyrics, which sing (not at all in the acmeistic spirit) the peaceful joys of rural life and serene love. One of the few Junior acmeists who continued to publish actively in the following years: he published about a dozen collections of poems (mostly in the genre of intimate, urban and landscape lyrics) and a two-volume selection (1974). His poems, which generally retain a good technique, demonstrate a gradual transition from modernist poetics to traditional, with a small share of "permitted" historical and geographical romance.
