The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Solovetsky monastery is a Stavropol monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church located in the village of Solovetsky in the Primorsky district of the Arkhangelsk region on Solovetsky island in the White sea.

It appeared in the 1420s-1430s, was built in stone by the works of Saint Philip, and in pre-Petrine times was listed among the largest landowners of the state. In 1669-1676, it was besieged by the tsarist troops as one of the centers of resistance to the nikonian transformations.

Under the Soviet regime, the first special-purpose camp in the country operated on the territory of the monastery, and the Solovetsky Museum-reserve was also created, which was reorganized in 1974 into the Solovetsky state historical, architectural and natural Museum-reserve. Monastic life resumed on October 25, 1990.

In 1992, the complex of monuments of the Solovetsky Museum-reserve was included in the UNESCO world heritage list, in 1995-in the State code of especially valuable cultural heritage objects of the peoples of the Russian Federation. р
