אוצר השרשים כולל שרשי הלשון העברית עם פתרון הוראותיהם השונים בשמות בפעלים ובמלות, והעתקתם מלשון אל לשון פנים ואחור מעברית לאשכנזית ומאשכנזית לעברית.
אוצר השורשים - מילון לעברית מקראית, עברית-גרמנית, נדפס במהדורות רבות ושימוש את המשכילים במאה ה-19 לצורך לימוד גרמנית.
יהודה ליב בן-זאב (1811-1764) היה בלשן וחוקר עברית, מהדור הראשון של תנועת ההשכלה היהודית.
לפנינו כאן שתי מהדורות מהמאה ה-19, כל אחת מהן בת שני כרכים:
1. ווין: דפוס אנטאן שמיד, תקס"ז-תקס"ח (1808-1807).
