Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad: (1833-1909), author of Ben Ish Chai and the greatest sage of the East at the time. He was born to Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim ben Rabbi Moshe Chaim of Baghdad. A disciple of Rabbeinu Abdallah Somekh, who as a young man was known for his genius and his justness. Began to demand in the Great Synagogue and he was only 26 years old, and since then he has demanded every Shabbat and Yom Tov there for fifty years. In his special sermons, thousands of people would gather to hear his sweet words for four and five hours.
