Day 1 of the Spring Curated Auction features a large selection of Japanese and Chinese items, as well as artwork, porcelain, glass and furniture. The sale features items from the estate of Ruth Nelkin. Highlights from her extensive collection of Japanese and Chinese pieces include an embroidered Chinese silk child's robe, a Loo chip set in a lacquer box, a Chinese Export iron red carp form wall vase and a Chinese Imari plate. Japanese items include lacquer Jubako boxes, iron teapots, Noh theater masks, and a selection of porcelain, including Satsuma, Imari, sake and sencha cups, and celadon. Beyond Chinese and Japanese items, Day 1 of this two day sale also features a collection of illustration art, a modern plant stand by Mark Levin, a Helen Shupla pottery vase and a selection of glass including Baccarat and Steuben.

Pair of Japanese Meiji style dragon armchairs. 20th century. Carved and lacquered wood with painted dragon motif on seats. "Made in Japan" stamped and labeled on underside of chairs. Chips and losses to lacquer to edges of seats and carved splats on both chairs. Chips to lacquer on legs and feet on both chairs. Repairs and later reinforcements to legs and joinery on both chairs. Split and crack to wood on right back leg on one chair. Split around one seat.
