Background: Ownership signatures on the title page. Moshe Lehren Manheim, and his son and disciple, Hatzvi Herschel. The Chida met him and praised him extensively.
Rabbi Moshe Lehren served as a dayan on the Beit Din of Rabbi Shaul HaLevi, Rabbi of the Hague. His son Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Lehren, one of the leaders of the Amsterdam community and head of the Organization of Clerks and Administrators in Amsterdam, and its driving force. He was both learned and wealthy, and fought mightily to stabilize religious affairs and greatly extended himself to help the poor people of the Land of Israel.
