Specifications: 243 leaves, 20.5 cm.
Background: First edition of the book of responsa by Rabbi Moshe Alshich which was printed just after his passing, by his son Rabbi Chaim Alshich. The year of printing was calculated from the words 'ממשה עד משה לא קם כמשה.'
Unique Features: A number of lengthy handwritten scholarly glosses, some are stamped מפ"ה.
Rav Moshe Pardo [c. 1810 - 1888] was a grandson of Rabbi Yitzchak Abulafia on his mother's side and great-grandson of the Chida on his father's side. Born in Jerusalem, dayan with the Rishon L'Tzion Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi, who gave an approbation to the book before us. He went on a mission to North Africa in 1870, and on his way home passed through Alexandria where he was appointed rabbi. He also authored Tzedek U'Mishpat.
Condition: Moderate-fine. Professional restoration to the margins of the title page and some of the last pages. Damage to text on the last page. Stains. New semi-leather binding.
