Shmuel Greenberg was a teacher of Tanach, grammar, gemara and the history of literature. He was principal of the Berlin Rabbinical Seminary until it was closed by the Nazis. He was the president of the Mizrachi organization in Germany, a representative at the Zionist Congresses and a director of Keren HaYesod. He immigrated to Palestine in 1936, and served as the head of Tel Aviv's religious council; he founded the 'Torah U'Melacha' yeshiva in Kfar Avraham, near Petach Tikva.
