Haggadas Guadalajara – Rare Facsimile on Parchment
The First printed haggada, apparently printed by Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz in Guadalajara Spain c. 1480.
Printed without a title page. Text and laws in print letters without punctuation.
[6] leaves. Two columns. 32 lines to a column. Not paginated and without page headings.
The Haggada opens, 'when one returns from the synagogue, they wash the cups and fill them with wine'. It concludes with the after blessing on a cup of wine. It does not include Hallel or Yehalilucha.
The only extant copy is housed in the National Library in Jerusalem. This facsimile was made in New York in 1983 by Soncino.
The Haggada is printed on quality parchment, and only 30 numbered copies were printed. This is number 7 of 30. Original, leather binding in excellent condition.
