Letter from Rabbi Chaim Berlin of Volozhin sent to Rabbi Shmuel Salant. [1899]
Letter from Rabbi Chaim Berlin to the heads of the Va'ad HaKlali in Jerusalem, headed by Rabbi Shmuel Salant.
Letter sent in [1899] from Yelisavetgrad, where he served in the rabbinate. The letter discusses the transfer of donations he collected, with a list of donors; book purchases (Sidur HaGRA and Shu"t HaRadal from Rabbi Eliyahu Landau), and a request for amulets for two donors (he notes that if there are no Ashkenazi rabbis who can write the amulets, they should ask a Sephardic sage, "since they know about these things").
However, he primarily protests that he had not received receipts for previous donations and threatens to stop sending donations if he does not receive receipts!
[1] leaf. 20x13 cm. Written on both its sides. Clear and legible. Very fine condition.
