Ohel Yissaschar. First Edition. Copy that Belonged to Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin
Sefer Ohel Yissaschar - five sermons, for the Chamishah Chumshei Torah, by Rabbi Yissachar Ber son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib La"sh, dayan of Krotshin [Liechtenstein]. Altona, 1826. Only edition. Personal copy of the gaon Rabbi Meir Shapira, rosh yeshivah of Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin and progenitor of the Daf HaYomi study program.
The book is adorned with many important approbations, including an approbation from the gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger. It also contains a lengthy poem in honor of the author by the gaon Rabbi Moshe Hamburg.
Many of Rabbi Meir Shapira's owner's stamps appear on the title pages and within the body of the book, from the time he served as av beit din of Pietrkov (two types of stamps), as well as stamps from the Chachmei Lublin yeshivah's Beit Akad Sefarim [library]. It is well-known that Mahara"m Shapira had no children of his own. After he founded Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin, he transferred his personal library there.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Meir Shapira.
[5], 27 leaf, 22 cm. High-quality greenish paper.
Fine condition. Aging stains. Antique restoration to the margins of the approbation leaf, from Rabbi Meir Shapira's time.
