Two Letters by Rabbi Eliezer Yehudah Finkel, Head of the Mir Yeshivah. Poland [1937-1939]
Letter to Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Ferber of London, and another to Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin of New York.
In the letters, Rabbi Finkel informs them of the yeshivah's situation and asks them to act for its financial support. In those days, the economic situation of the yeshivah was difficult, "indeed the material situation of the yeshivah is terrible, and our eyes are looking to Heaven's mercy."
Rabbi Eliezer Yehudah Finkel [1877-1965] was the head of the Mir Yeshivah in the city of Mir. He reestablished the yeshivah in the Land of Israel after the Holocaust. He was a member of Agudat Yisrael's Council of Torah Sages.
Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin [1881-1973] was one of the first students of the Slutzk yeshivah. He was ordained as a rabbi by Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, the Ridba"z, the gaon Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz and the author of the Aruch HaShulchan. Later he was one of the prominent adjudicators of the 20th century in the United States and the manager of the 'Ezrat Torah' organization.
[2] leaves, 22x29 cm. Typewritten on official stationery. Signed by the rosh yeshivah. In one of the letters, several lines were added in his handwriting. Very fine condition.
