United Nations 3x 1981 Inalienable Rights Palestinian People stamps MNH
Pro-Palestinian stamps - United Nations: 1981 issue set of 3x stamps, each in French, German and English bearing the slogan " Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People", in different denominations; MNH (the S4 stamp has a small surficial mark on top of the surface, the stamp is not damaged). Issued by the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA), the postal agency of the United Nations, which produces stamps denominated in US currency for the UN Headquarters in New York, Swiss Francs for the UN's Palais des Nations in Geneva, and (prior to the Euro) in Austrian Schillings for the UN International Center in Vienna, and valid for postage only when used on mail at these 3 offices. These postage stamps were issued by the UNPA to honor the " Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People", established in 1975 by a General Assembly resolution, to "formulate a programme to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination". The UNPA itself reports that this stamp issue (the 15c denomination specifically) generated such controvery that it was the first UN stamp since 1954 to sell fewer than a million copies when more than a million were printed.
